Thanksgiving is a Time for Family

And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.          Colossians 3:17 (CSB)

Here we are upon the Thanksgiving season. It is our prayer that families will be able to gather together to spend time together, build new memories, fellowship, and teach children by example, the love and privilege of being  a part of a family.

It is through our example and leadership that children learn the most important and valuable lessons in life. This is a great opportunity to share time at a food shelter, or a homeless shelter. Most children are unaware of the needs of others. If children never see the eyes of someone suffering, they become immune to caring about those less fortunate.

If anyone has this world’s goods and sees a fellow believer in need but withholds compassion from him — how does God’s love reside in him?              I John 3:17 (CSB)

Time spent caring and showing love for others is time well spent. Children will learn the important lessons when we step in and share these experiences with them. An added bonus is time families spent together.

Happy Thanksgiving
