Bible Passage: Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar. I am warning you about these things — as I warned you before — that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:19-23
Today’s world is made up of people wanting it all, and if they do not have it all, they are willing to take it. Many children are raised to think they deserve to have everything their hearts desire.
Our world has been overtaken by acceptance of evil, and rejection of moral Godly ways. I am not going to point out how the very “works of the flesh” mentioned above are now the norm. I think we all see some of these in our lives and the lives of others. We need to be on our guard, careful not to teach these to our children, by our actions, words, and deeds.
We see the anger and hatred in the world, even little children understand these emotions. Whenever, anger enters our homes, we should turn it around into love and forgiveness.
We should fill our homes with the Fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Each day we should pray, that we are living by these, and setting and example for our children. We need to take every opportunity to teach these to our children. Make signs, and posters, and place them all over our homes if we need to, in order to remind us and our family.
The result will be a happier family, but more importantly, knowing we are pleasing to God. As the Bible tells us, we are to seek the rewards of heaven, and not be concerned about the acceptance of others. Only God matters, His ways, and His instruction.
