Everyone wants to be first, be at the top, and win the glory. But no one seems to understand how to get there.
We are constantly training, and training for one event or another. If it’s running; we are out exercising, eating right and practicing. If it’s academic; we are studying, getting plenty of sleep, and trying to absorb as much information as possible.
This year Christmas will be different for many, just as the whole year has been with COVID-19. However, I am the person that tends to look for the good and not the bad, in every situation. So, make this year a positive, happy Christmas.
Loving parents want the best for their children. They want to protect their children from harm. They want their children to excel in life and be happy. These are great objectives and we all want these for our children. There is nothing wrong with these goals, in fact, they are all commendable.
We live in a society of “ME, MYSELF, and MINE”. We want everything for ourselves. Nothing is too good for us. We never have enough of anything, we must have MORE, MORE, MORE.
We are teaching this lesson to our children. They are seeing us, hearing us, and learning from us.
For those of us who are a little older, it wasn’t so long ago that spanking was commonplace in schools, as well as home. Now, we do not see spanking at school, but I occasionally hear older parents comment that children are not disciplined because parents do not spank them. As a parent and a mother, I do not advocate spanking a child. In my opinion, it instills fear, even resentment in children.
Some people would say parents are over-ambitious for their children today. These people would no doubt point out the intense competition among parents for their children to have top scores, be enrolled in top classes, go to the top schools, and receive top recognition. Almost all of us know these parents.
