A Parent’s Prayer

Gracious Lord, thank You for the gift of this day. I thank You for the many, many blessings that You have given me in the past and those given on this day. I especially thank You for all of the blessings You have given that go unnoticed, asking forgiveness for not noticing. I glorify and thank You for the mercy and grace You provide always.

Heavenly Father, I give my soul, spirit, and mind to You. Thank You for leading me along the path You created just for me and providing the eyes and ears to continue this path today. I honor and glorify You. I trust you, Lord, because you speak to me in the stillness of my mind and guide me to be a loving, caring, respectful listener and teacher for my children, as you are for me.

My God, I commit my child into your hands. Protect her in those times that I lead her in the wrong direction. Speak to her so that she knows your voice in the stillness and trusts your guidance as I do. Allow her to grow in Christ’s teachings and love so that she becomes a valuable, Christian member of society. Give her strength and courage to stand up to Evil, especially when she is alone. Remind her of the firm foundation upon which her feet are planted. Instill in her a love of family, community, and servitude. Allow her to serve others in gladness and to allow herself to be served with gratitude and humbleness.

My Lord, I will do my best to rear my child as Your daughter, with Your grace. I trust Your guidance, knowing that in this day I will not worry over things I cannot change. I will not sit in idleness and I ask Your guidance in teaching my child to work with purpose. Help me teach her to sit in silent stillness and listen for You. Guide me to lead her in the study of Your holy word.

All this I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
